About Bayside Plumbing

Bayside Plumbing is a small team of registered plumbers based in Somerset West. We handle the everyday jobs that keep a home running, from blocked drains and dripping taps to geyser replacements and full bathroom plumbing, and we handle the emergencies that happen at the worst possible time.

Every job starts with a clear quote. You know what we will do and what it costs before we pick up a tool. If we find something unexpected, we stop and talk to you first.

We work across the Helderberg and answer WhatsApp seven days a week.

Frequently asked questions

What should I do if a pipe bursts?

Turn off the main stopcock first, usually at the street boundary or where the water pipe enters the house, then switch off the geyser at the DB board so it does not run dry. Then call us; we will tell you how soon we can be there.

My geyser burst. Will my insurance cover it?

Usually yes, most household policies cover geyser bursts and the resulting damage, but insurers require the replacement to be done by a PIRB-registered plumber with a Certificate of Compliance. Do not remove the old geyser before the claim is logged.

What is a PIRB-registered plumber?

A plumber registered with the Plumbing Industry Registration Board, which means they are qualified to do the work and to issue Certificates of Compliance. Ask for the registration number; a registered plumber will give it without hesitation.

Do I need a plumbing Certificate of Compliance to sell my house?

In most municipalities yes. Cape Town, for example, requires a plumbing CoC on transfer confirming the water installation meets the by-laws. We inspect, fix what fails and issue the certificate.

How much does a plumber cost to call out?

A call-out fee covers travel and the first period of diagnosis, and the repair is quoted before any work starts. Emergency after-hours call-outs cost more, and we tell you the amount when you phone.

Why does my geyser keep tripping the electricity?

Most often a failing element or thermostat, sometimes water on the electrical connections. Switch the geyser off at the DB board and call us; running it while it trips can damage the geyser further.
